What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that originated in Japan. 

It’s based on the concept of channeling universal life force energy to promote healing and balance in the body, mind, and spirit.

The word “Reiki” is composed of two Japanese words: “rei” which means universal and “ki”which means life energy or vital force.                                                 

By placing hands lightly on or just above the recipient’s body, the practitioner can transfer this healing energy. Promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being. 

Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medical treatments, and it’s considered very safe and non-invasive.

What Can Reiki Help You With?

Reiki assists in the promotion of holistic healing and can lend help towards a variety of physical, emotional, and spiritual issues.  

Some common benefits people attribute to Reiki include:

  • Stress reduction – Reiki sessions often induce a deep state of relaxation, helping to alleviate built-up stress and tension.
  • Improved sleep – Many people report better sleep quality after receiving Reiki treatments.
  • Emotional balance – Reiki is practised to promote emotional healing by releasing negative emotions and promoting feelings of peace and well-being.

It’s always a good idea to consult with a qualified healthcare professional for any health concerns you may have.

What does a typical reiki session look like?

A typical session will start by having a brief conversation with the practitioner to talk about any concerns you may have and area’s you would like to focus on during the treatment.

You will be asked to lie down fully clothed on the comfortable massage table. There will be an eye mask, extra blankets and pillows to achieve the best possible comfort level for you. 

Soft, relaxing music will play in the background and the room will be dimly light.

The practitioner will then place their hands in various positions just above your body. Focusing on areas where energy flow may be blocked or imbalanced.    They may use a combination of hand placements, depending on your individual needs.

During the session, you may feel sensations such as warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation as the Reiki energy flows through your body.

A typical Reiki session lasts 40 to 50 minutes, depending on your individual needs.

Overall, a Reiki session is a gentle and non-invasive experience designed to promote relaxation, balance, and holistic healing.

Each session is unique to the individual receiving it, and the experience can vary from person to person.

Inspired by her own transformative experience, Alicia felt compelled to learn Reiki and share its benefits with others. 

Her approach to Reiki is intuitive and gentle, focusing on the deeper layers of trauma. Alicia empowers her clients by equipping them with tools they can incorporate into their daily lives, fostering a sense of autonomy and enabling them to align with the change they desire. 

Passionate about the healing potential of Reiki, Alicia aims to support individuals across all areas of life, particularly those facing medical or mental health challenges. She works collaboratively with her clients, always honouring and complementing their ongoing medical treatments 

JESSICA TAYLOR

Practitioner of Naturopathy And Nutrition

Jess clinical focus includes gut health, hormones, fatigue, nervous system dysregulation, anxiety, burnout, fertility, methylation, and identifying the root of chronic illness — often the things people are told to ‘just live with,’ but which point to deeper patterns of imbalance that can be resolved with the right approach.

Jess is a degree-qualified Naturopath, Nutritionist, and Herbalist with additional training in homeopathy, iridology, flower essence therapy, and Reiki (Level 2).

She holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) from Torrens University and a Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Sciences (Honours) from Deakin University.

With an inherent fascination in health and medicine. Driven by a desire to uncover the root cause of illness, not just manage its symptoms                  Jess brings genuine care and intuitive insight to each case.
