Myotherapy is a whole body, hands-on treatment that focuses on the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain.
The focus is on recorrecting the underlying root cause of a particular condition, in order to restore optimal function and movement of affected area(s).
The benefits include injury prevention, improved muscle and joint range of motion, posture and physical performance, neuromuscular activation, aid in increased blood and lymphatic fluid circulation, a quicker injury and sport recovery time as well as reduced DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness) after exercise.
Myotherapy (myo meaning muscle) is a specialised field of massage therapy that focuses on assessing and managing the pain related to the soft tissue structures of the body.
Myotherapy aims to identify and treat trigger points (knots) in the human body and as a result relieve pain, tension, and restricted range of motion within the affected muscles.
Whether you are suffering from joint-related restriction or an athlete who wants to improve your field performance and avoid injuries, myotherapy can help you stay active, fit and enjoy optimal health and well being.
Your initial appointment will involve a comprehensive history, a full-body postural/ biomechanical assessment as well as appropriate hands-on treatment and rehabilitation plan.
Depending on your personal needs, a variety of techniques may be used, including remedial massage, electro-nerve stimulation, stretching, corrective taping and dry needling.
