What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial Massage involves the assessment of muscles, tissues, ligaments, tendons and suchin order to relieve tension and pain. Using a treatment plan, ongoing remedial sessions can have the desired effects of stimulating and repairing damaged tissues and improve the blood flow to particularly affected areas.

What is Myotherapy?

Myotherapy is a whole-body, hands on treatment that looks at how the bio-mechanics work, move and interact it. It involves a strong focus on evidence-based assessment and an integrated therapeutic approach in the treatment of affected muscles, joints and nerves. Myotherapist treat muscle dysfunction, pain and associated conditions with the purpose of restoring optimal function and movement. It has many beneficial effects on the body, both physiological and psychological.

What a standard session looks like?

Your initial appointment will involve a comprehensive history, a full-body postural/ biomechanical assessment as well as appropriate hands-on treatment and rehabilitation plan. The aim of the consultation is to evaluate the condition of the muscle tissue with testing and palpating (touch), of the affected muscles, joints and nerves. We can then assess which of the varied techniques we can use for your body to respond better too reset the tissue back towards its natural state and functional movement.

What are the everyday benefits of Myotherapy?

The benefits to consider with a Myotherapy treatment in our everyday lives include injury prevention, improved muscle and joint range of motion, posture and physical performance, neuromuscular activation, aid in increased blood and lymphatic fluid circulation, a quicker injury and sport recovery time as well as reduced DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness) after exercise.

It is important to note that you do not need to be injured to see a Myotherapist. Early intervention or regular maintenance will likely reduce injury or pain if seen and treated early.
